Jova Solutions, Inc. is pleased to begin offering CyboSoft's MFA Control Toolset as an enhancement to bioreactor control software.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 01, 2004
CyboSoft CEO Dr. George Cheng said, "We are pleased to team up with Jova Solutions to offer MFA controllers to the biotech industry. MFA controllers integrated into FermWorks software as a complete solution provide bioreactor operators tremendous competitive and economic benefits." Model-Free Adaptive (MFA) control is a patented technology of controlling complex systems without the use of first-principle mathematical models or dynamic modeling.
All users of FermWorks, and any researcher or pilot plant operator overseeing continuous or batch processes, will gain an advantage with MFA control. MFA controllers offer advantages in robustness, speed, and stability, and ensure faster response than traditional PID control, resulting in less material wasted in bringing variables (e.g., pH or dissolved oxygen) back to setpoint. MFA control also adapts to new process-dynamics, which might otherwise cause PID controllers to become unstable.
"We're excited to offer Cybosoft's MFA Toolset as the first commercially available plug-in for FermWorks; adding important functionality without rewriting the application," said Jova Solutions President Andrew Johnson. This set of MFA controller VIs were developed based on National Instruments Virtual Instrument standards, and can be seamlessly integrated into FermWorks. Once Cybosoft's MFA controllers are registered with FermWorks, they can run at regular rates, with their inputs and outputs flexibly mapped to existing tags (variables) in FermWorks. Such plug-ins enable all FermWorks users to add features and modify functionality without stopping or recompiling the application - existing experiments are unperturbed by the addition of plug-ins.
